PUNJAB and ROYALS out from IPL 4

The termination of Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab from IPL 4 is sounding very surprising and strange. The teams have been made to pay a heavy price for their perceived proximity to dismissed  league chairman Lalit Modi by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).It is revealed that Modi had stakes in both the teams through some front men and women.

BCCI president Shashank Manohar said,“The Governing Council sought legal opinion and came to the conclusion that the contracts of Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd (Rajasthan Royals) and KPH Dream Cricket Pvt Ltd (Punjab Kings XI) franchises need to be cancelled for the violation of the franchise agreement."

The termination of the IPL contracts of King’s XI and Rajasthan Royals, however, is unlikely to affect the future of the players like Yuvraj Singh,Shane Warne,Sangakkara,Jayawardene,Greame Smith and Shane Watson contracted by these clubs, as their three-year contract with the clubs already ended on September 26,2010.they would now be put for open bid in the auctions.

The spokespersons of both teams expressed “complete shock and surprise” at the IPL Governing Council decision.A majority stakeholder in Rajasthan Royals, Raj Kundra, better known as husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, is reported to have told a television channel that “they will take legal action” against the BCCI decision.Shilpa Shetty tweeted that she was shocked by the decision of BCCI.
The first expression on my face was WHAT and REALLY. HOW could this be possible?.Being a Punjabi I really felt that this is injustice being done to my team. How could BCCI suspend IPL1 winners from IPL4.This was not expected from BCCI at all. This IPL4 would now be less interesting for me as i would not have my Punjabi team to cheer for.I wonder what Mohalli stadium will look like without their team,Punjab Kings XI.
