Paul the octopus, who shot to fame during this year's football World Cup in South Africa for his flawless record in predicting game outcomes, has died, in his aquarium in Germany.
His success made him almost a bigger story than the World Cup itself. It's undeniable that Paul the Octopus was the real star of the 2010 football World Cup.
Paul correctly fore casted all eight World Cup games what he was asked to predict, including Spain’s 1-0 win over the Netherlands in the final.
"Paul amazed the world by correctly predicting the winners of all Germany's World Cup clashes, and then of the final," said Sea Life manager Stefan Porwoll.
He was to the 2010 World Cup football championship what cheerleaders are to the IPL: the element of fun. The aquarium has already been grooming a successor, to be named Paul like his mentor.Paul,is now an iPhone application.
Saddens me. The bright octopus was really something. I wanted to visit him in Germany to figure out if it was really psychic or just a television gimmick. Guess I'll never know now. Btw, facebook keeps it alive with Paul, the Octopus application :P
